KUMAWU IN FOCUS.

One of the Pioneer States of Ashanti(Asante), of High Repute. Sitting in State in Kumasi, in 1995 I believe, is the late Ruler of Kumawu---Barima Asumadu Sakyi II and the present Queen of Kumawu, Nana Serwaa Amponsah. The Ruling Family of Kumawu are of the Aduana Abrade Great Clan of the section of the Africans, known as Akan specifically of the Twi speaking group.

As is always the case/convention in most African societies, the historical account of the Ruling Family/Clan is regarded as the superintending narrative of the state. There are of course other clans/family groups of all identifications resident in the state(that's what makes a state a state), but the convention is to adopt the Ruling Family's own as that of the State.

This account is just for historical and cultural interest only. Nothing else, should be read into it.
